The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
– Genesis 1:2 (New King James Version)
The void left from living in a fallen world, abiding by the rules of the fallen, left me empty because the currency in the Kingdom of Darkness is your humanity in exchange for counterfeit healing, power, and love. Yet God continued to hover over me, birthing me as a new creation and bringing life to a place with deep emptiness.
I recently was in a season of fogginess stemming from believing the lies that this world is too hard to bear – that the darkness was too overwhelming for me to overcome, falling for the lie that I have to do the overcoming by my own strength, my own striving, my own worrying, and my own self-righteousness. These lies were so deeply rooted in my heart and mind due to the years of being in new age spirituality, where inner healing was a constant thing I was reaching for, rather than something I could just FREELY receive from God.
From the time I was in high school, I had begun to explore how astrology linked me to a greater force – the universe. As I delved deeper into natal charts, it seemed like the universe itself had begun to speak back to me. I was seeking spiritual language to help me understand the depths of my own soul, because I knew that there was more to us than meets the eye. I was looking for understanding, knowledge, and divine wisdom, but what I found was the counterfeit of the real thing.
And it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light; So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as ministers of righteousness. [But] their end will correspond with their deeds.
– 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)
The reality is that I was speaking to a void that had no life, but had been close enough to love and light that it knew how to emulate the real thing. Satan was once an angel of light until he fell, and he was a high-ranking angel, a powerful Archangel, or even a Seraphim. This means that he was not only very close in proximity to Our Almighty God, first of the three hierarchies closest to God’s throne, known for their fiery love and constant praise
Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty.
– Ezekiel 28: 17 (New Living Translation)
Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor.
So I threw you to the ground and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings.
For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
– 1 Corinthians 14:33 (New King James Version)
